The government originally provided £150 million per annum to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. We are delighted that this funding has continued.
The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of PE & Sport for all their children.
Each school receives £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil - here at Boxford CEVC Primary School, that will mean close to £9,000 a year. The money can only be spent on PE and sport provision in schools.
Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.
Possible uses of the funding include:
At Boxford CEVC Primary School we use this significant funding in a variety of ways to ensure that eligible pupils and their families are well supported so that pupils can make the expected or better than expected progress in their learning.
